Asia's largest rice research institute, the Central Rice Research Institute ( CRRI ) is situated in Cuttack.
Also in 1946, the Central Rice Research Institute ( CRRI ) was established in Cuttack to prevent occurrences like the Bengal famine of 1943.
The presence of Central Rice Research Institute ( CRRI ), the largest rice research institute in Asia, adds to the importance of Cuttack in the agricultural map of the country.
After the expiry of this fellowship, he worked for sometime as an Algologist in the Government of Madras and after a short time moved to the central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, Orissa where he worked as a research assistant in Mycology.
He worked in various capacities with the state and central governments in India as the Geneticist and Second Cane Breeding Officer, Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, a research station of the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research ( 1940 47 ), as the Geneticist and Division Head of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute ( IARI ), New Delhi ( 1947 52 ) and as the Director of the Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack ( 1952 58 ) from where he retired from government service.
